DDLA, LLC Executive Level Recruitment Services: (estimates)

For this example, I will use a department in the Milwaukee area:

For one-day assessment center:

  • 3 hours driving time to location:    $75/hr x 3 = $225
  • 3 hours driving time from location: $75/hr x 3 = $225
  • If driving to, 180 miles x $.535/mi: 180 x $.535 =  $96.30 (current government rate)
  • If driving from, 180 miles x $.535/mi: 180 x $.535 = $96.30 (current government rate)

10 hours (approximate time that would include set up and final coordination with evaluators) for actual assessment center:

  • $75/hr x 10 = $750
  • Full day per diem: 1 day x $64 = $64  (government rate for that specific area)
  • One night lodging, if necessary: 1 night x $119 =  $119   (government lodging rate for that specific area)

Total for one-day assessment center:  $1575.60

Cost variables:

  • If flying, typically if over 400 miles:  Reasonable cost of airline ticket (coach) from a larger airport to reduce costs (would also include parking fees and mileage to and from airport)
  • Initial meeting: 4 hours (may be less or more) for initial meeting with PFC and community leaders to determine assessment center stations and discuss process:  $75/hr x 4 = $300 plus mileage and per diem if face-to-face
  • Close-out meeting: 4 hours (may be less or more) to analyze results and provide detailed report to PFC and community leaders:  $75/hr x 4 = $300 plus mileage and per diem if face-to-face
  • Assessment Center coordination: Any coordination with assessment center evaluators such as local or area police and/or fire chiefs:  $75/hr x 6 =  $450 (approximate cost)
  • Tolls, if applicable: None to Milwaukee  $0
  • Leadership questionnaire analysis: $75/hr x 5 =  $375  (based on 1 hour per candidate)(may be more or less)
  • Records research:  $75/hr x 5 = $375 (based on 1 hour per candidate)(review of application materials or calls to current employer)
  • Background checks for Top 5: $75/hr x 5 = b (based on 1 hour per candidate) (several sources for 5 checks)(may be more or less)
  • Reference checks for Top 5: $75/hr x 5 = $375 (based on 1 hour per candidate calling references and past employers)(may be more or less)

Variables cost: $2550.00

TOTAL COST (approximate cost)  $4125.60 – $4703.60

Other possible costs or cost reductions are variables for consideration:

  • Any long distance phone calls would be reimbursed once detailed phone log from cell phone carrier is provided to community’s financial director.
  • Any postage to send out leadership questionnaires to Top 5 candidates, although DDLA can send community Human Resource Director the questionnaire by email, and then it can be printed and sent to each can candidate, or DDLA can send to each candidate’s personal email to further reduce such costs.
  • Any costs for coffee, beverages, snacks or lunch for the day of the assessment center would be paid for by the community hosting the event.
  • Stipends for assisting assessment evaluators would be paid by hosting department.
  • Initial and final meetings can also be coordinated by teleconference to limit mileage and per diem costs.
  • Local department can assist in arranging for assessment evaluators to further reduce costs, but any evaluators should be vetted through the PFC and/or DDLA, LLC.
  • A detailed but concise contract, once terms outlining exact costs and processes are agreed upon, would be signed by the PFC President or community leader and President of DDLA, LLC. This contract should be reviewed by legal counsel for the community prior to signature.
  • Copies of receipts for such expenses as airport parking, long distance cell phone calls, tolls, etc. would be provided to the community’s finance director for reimbursement of actual expense.
